FAQs about portraits

What details do you need to create a portrait? 

I need at least one clear headshot photograph for each portrait you have ordered. Clear photographs are really helpful for me to be able to capture a lovely likeness in the portrait. You are welcome to send more than one photograph. 

Please let me know if you have any preferences for your portrait - or if there are fine details I should know. For example, for the child’s portraits; do they have a preferred hairstyle? Or favourite hair tie? For the pet portraits; do they have a special collar? Or any distinguishing features you wouldn’t want me to miss? The more details I know, the better likeness I will able to capture in your portrait!

After you’ve placed your order and gone through checkout, you will receive an email confirming your order and asking you to send across a photograph by return email. Or you can email your photo directly to lizzie@lizziemartell.com once you’ve placed your order.

Will the illustration look just like my photograph?

I hope to produce a lovely likeness of your photograph in my illustration. The illustration is not a photographic likeness, but is instead an illustrative representation of your photograph in my own unique style.

What size are the decorations?

The decorations are 4.5cm diameter.

Can I add any extra text to my decoration?

If it will fit, I am always happy to accomodate adding some special wording to the back side of your portrait, such as ‘My 1st Christmas’ or a special date if you so wish, at no extra cost.

What materials do you use?

The decorations are ceramic bisque fired earthenware pendants handmade in the UK. I use high quality acrylic paint to decorate each one using professional paint brushes. Each decoration is finished with a 100% double faced Polyester Satin ribbon made into a tie and finished with a bow.

Can you fit Two portraits on one decoration?

Sorry, due to the size of the ceramic decorations, space only allows for one portrait - and one name on each decoration. 

When can I expect my order to arrive?

Every effort will be made to complete your order as soon as possible. However, please be aware that due to the hand-painted nature of these decorations, timescales may vary depending on the current demand. Orders will be completed between 1 and 4 weeks.

How is my order sent?

All orders are packaged and shipped from Folkestone, Kent, UK. I aim to deliver each portrait decoration with quality. Each portrait decoration will be carefully packaged in tissue paper and placed in a stiff backing board box for protection in the post.

For UK Domestic Orders, I use Royal Mail 1st Class post as standard. If you would prefer a signed for or special delivery postal option, you may select this on checkout.

For International Orders, I use Royal Mail International Standard post. Please select this option at checkout if you are placing your order within Europe, United States or Australia, or contact me directly for shipping rates outside of these areas.

Do you ship worldwide?
